Pension Application
- How to Apply for a Pension
- An application for a survivor's pension must be made exclusively to the Pension Service which will give you the application form and the list of supporting documents to provide.
- The pension rights acquired by (or accorded to) the father, mother or legal guardian, may be inherited orphan.
- The wording of the application depends on the age of an orphan:
- If the child is a minor: an application is made by the surviving parent or legal guardian
- If the child is an adult: it is submitted personally
Conditions
Activity Conditions
- Situation of the Deceased Parent
- For a retired CAR parent (or legal guardian):
- At the time of death, the parent was already receiving a pension from CAR. The condition of duration of activity is therefore met.
- For a parent (or legal guardian) who not in receipt of a CAR pension:
- At the time of death, the parent must have fulfilled the activity condition required to benefit from a direct pension.

Age Conditions
- Age Condition
- The pension is granted under the following conditions:
- until the day an orphan turns 18: in all cases,
- between 18 years of age and the day before the 25th birthday: for orphaned students or apprentices.
- This right expires at the latest on the eve of the 25th birthday.

Effective Pension Date
- How is the Effective Date of the Pension Set
- An orphan has twelve months to submit a written application for a survivor's pension, by simple mail or to our Pensions Reception Service.
- This period runs from the day on which the conditions for entitlement are met.
- After this period, the application will take effect on the first day of the calendar quarter during which it is presented.
Calculation
- How is the Amount of Pension Calculated
- The amount of the survivor's pension depends on:
- The total number of points credited to the deceased's account, to which a rate is assigned:
- Orphan of father OR mother: 25% of direct rights acquired by the deceased parent.
- Orphan of father AND mother: 50% of the highest direct rights acquired by the father or mother.
- The annual value of the point, set by Ministerial Decree, i.e. €21.8500 on October 1, 2024
- The total number of points credited to the deceased's account, to which a rate is assigned:
- It is determined by the following formula:
- Monthly Retirement Amount = (number of retirement points) X (rate) X (point value) /12
- Calculate the amount of your orphan survivor’s pension:
- fatherless OR motherless,
- fatherless AND motherless.
- The amount of the survivor's pension depends on:
Payment
- Payment Arrangements
- The pension is paid by transfer to the bank or postal account in the name of the beneficiary:
- At the end of each calendar month, if resident in Monaco, France or Italy, payment takes place on the first working day of the following month.
- At the end of each calendar month, if resident outside the three previous countries.

- Payment Conditions
- The pension is paid:
- For a minor child, to the account of the legal guardian,
- For an adult child, to their own account.
- The documents to be provided are as follows:
- For a student aged between 18 and 25: a school certificate, issued each year in October,
- For an apprentice aged between 18 and 25: copies of the apprenticeship contract, pay slips and a certificate of attendance at training courses.
- The right to an orphan's pension expires on the eve of the 25th birthday.
- Between 18 and 25 years of age, any change occurring in your situation as an apprentice or student must be reported immediately to our services.
